I already spent 3 months studying for Reg. I just took a practice exam and did ONLY the multiple choice part on the wiley cpa test bank and I scored a 35%! At this point, I'm starting to freak out since my exam is in 2 weeks! I was going to take a break and see my friends this weekend but I decide to cancel everything because I need to study more. I feel so crappy cuz I had to cancel on going to my gf's bridal shower (I'm starting to feel like a horrible friend). My social life completely sucks. It's been rough juggling studying, working and keeping up w/ my friends. As for the studying part, I need some advice on what I can do now. This is how I've been studying: First, I would go my Becker Lectures and then I would work on the hw questions. If I was having trouble, I would reread the passage that were applicable to the questions. I have so far went through ALL of the Becker Lectures, and did ALL of the hw questions. I did a few practice exams but they seem to be the same as the hw questions. For every question that I have gotten wrong, I've been printing them out and I'm planning on reviewing them and trying to understand why I got them wrong. I have also started using the wiley test bank, because I thought it would be good for me to use another software to practice since I haven't seen the questions. In addition, to this, I'm redoing becker's questions (on my 2nd try, I have went through at least 600 of the 1394 becker questions). I'm currently scoring 60s-70s on my 2nd try. Studying for Regulation has been a pain, it's hard remember all the little details. At this point, I'm not sure how else to study anymore, so any advice would help!

Comment by Letmepassalready88 on October 7, 2012 at 5:29am Thanks for all the advice. I started working on the practice session on the wiley test bank. Every question that i gotten wrong, I have gone back to the book to reread. I'm also creating a bunch of flashcards to help me remember the information.
I have read the Becker book but it seems clear that the information isn't sticking or simply that I don't understand what I am reading after the 1st time. I found that after rereading a passage, or if I do more questions, the information starts clicking more. It seems very time consuming but i don't know of a more efficient way to comprehend the topic.
At the present moment, I don't have a social life at all. I want to get the cpa done, so I'll put my best foot fwd and hope for the best.
Comment by Michael on October 5, 2012 at 12:26pm Oh, I just re-read and saw you used the wiley which is why you're freaking out. Do all the questions in practice mode. This is far more constructive because you get an explanation straight out of the text for every wrong question. Keep reading these as this is how I hammer the concepts in my head for the areas i struggle with
Comment by Michael on October 5, 2012 at 12:24pm I would buy the wiley test bank and do tons of mcq questions in practice mode and simulations. These will be different from the questions in becker. If you are scoring well, you should be ok. If not, you will see areas you are weak in, plus if you do them in practice mode, they explain all the correct answers so you can continue to hammer the concepts in your head. Practice questions are the only way to really know if you're ready or not...
Have you actually read the Becker book? I go through the lectures but I also read the book. I find this helps me. I don't want to be discouraging but are you able to push the exam back if you need more time? Are you really focusing on your studies or keeping up with friends? We all need time to hang with friends, it helps us stay sane but you should be putting more emphasis right now on the exams. If your friends are true friends, they will understand.
