YES: NTS Received!
Wow, I remember another blogger saying how she was actually excited to get her NTS.. and now that I finally have mine (first applied on 2/27), I feel the exact same way. That's definitely a load of stress off my back. I have 2 sections on this NTS (AUD and FAR) and will get BEC and REG a bit later on. Just didn't want to schedule all 4 exams in one NTS and…

Government Accounting: 5 Hour Energy and Lambers
Hello everyone.
It's been a week into my studies for FAR. I decided to start with Government Accounting, it's an area that I haven't touched in a few years and frankly whatever I once knew about it has long since gone. In the last week I've been reminded why I don't work in government accounting; I respect anyone who chooses this as their…

FASB for Lunch: Time Well Spent
Today I decided to squeeze in some study time during my lunch hour. I began by watching a video on FASB Standards (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLNPUDUWkSg&list=PLAF87E4335AFBFB90). Within a few moments I had to pause it, “what?!.......new codification…. hu? Oh my gosh, have I…

Good evening all, my name is Elliot Jakubowitz and I'm from Miami Florida. After 10 years as an equity trader for several firms i decided to go back to school and earn my accounting degree. After finishing a 4 year in course in less than 2 years i am in the midst of looking for a job and have just began (3 weeks ago) studying for the CPA exam. I have purchased just the 2013 FAR section of Yaeger's CPA review for a little under $600. Now i know its foolish of me to buy each section…

Day 2..
Today I worked really late - in fact until 11pm finishing two grant budgets for work.
I did get a chance to study for about an hour and a half. I will have to catch up tomorrow.
I am still working on the fair value detrmination piece. It has been years since I had to deal with the topic so I have to read all the study text as well as the videos.
Back at it tomorrow!

Today is day one of the 2013 CPA plan! ODAAT
I didnt sleep last night thinking about the CPA exam. Just starting is a bit overwhelming. I have to break it down to just today.
Today:
1. Cleaned off my desk
2. Updated my study software (Cpaexcel)
3. Downloaded some FAR audio study notes
OK, I made the first start....now to get in an hour or so of study time this evening.
I can do this today. Today is what I have to worry about - I will not think about tomorrow just yet.

A positive attitude is essential. I had a plan to study FAR, but was not able to stick to it due to a family member’s health. I tried to study without my materials, but was not focused on the subject and determined that concentrating on family was…
