Test Day
I woke up at 4:00 am to study for the CPA Exam. I got my coffee and was on the way to my desk when I ran into my son. He did not want to go back to sleep, so I did not get any time in before I sent him off to school. I still had plenty of time to get ready and prepare for the test at 1:30.
I was extremely nervous, but felt prepared. I used Roger CPA review software in test mode for the entire thing and scored an 85%. That decreased the nervousness. I looked at my weak areas and…

Tomorrow is test day :)
The last two days have gone way to fast. I am feeling a mixture of emotions ranging from excited to terrified. I have done everything that I had scheduled in preparation of the CPA exam, but (as always) would like a few extra hours to dedicate to TBS questions. Otherwise I am feeling pretty good about how prepared I am for the CPA test. Yesterday was another issue.
Yesterday, I could not answer any of the multiple choice questions correctly, I was second guessing myself on…

Pavlov's Dog and the CPA Exam
Remember Pavlov’s dog? Ivan Pavlov, a Russian physiologist who studied classical conditioning, trained a dog to salivate when hearing the sound of a bell. This response came after repeatedly giving the dog food immediately after ringing a bell.
The point I’d like to make today is that we often operate the same way. Certain activities elicit certain responses if we train ourselves…

2 days left before the test!!
The countdown has started. I have 2 days before my CPA test. I am a little concerned that I am too calm. I am not in a panic or frantically trying to cram everything in. I believe it is because I stayed on top of my schedule and know where I am in the schedule at all times.
If you recall I was behind by 12 hours the last time I blogged with 7 study days left. I am now ahead of my schedule. I was able to employ the help of family to watch my son, so that I could get that extra…

7 days left before the test
I am so excited, I only have 7 study days before my test. I am still behind on my schedule, but now by 12 hours. Thankfully, I have cleared all of next week to study. I am going to see about getting a sitter some as well. But I think I can still follow the schedule and catch up before next weekend, and then use that weekend to cram as much as I can.
As far as the studying goes, internal controls really were a struggle for me. I am going to have to redo that section again. …

Laptop Crash and Notes have gone MIA
It’s been a rough few weeks for my laptop. It suddenly developed an aversion to the internet and shuts down without notice. Luckily, my son finally got it up and running. I am trying to get this blog in quickly and follow it up with a few Roger lectures before the computer shuts down again. The CPA Board delivered a bit of good news. The powers that be approved my extension. I toyed with the idea of scheduling my exam for the end of May, but I ran into a snag. It seems my life has…

GAME PLAN
I have figured out my study plan. I am going to study from 8 am until 2 pm Monday through Friday, off on the weekends. Giving me just over 100 hours total study time before sitting for AUD.
I adjusted Roger CPA Review 3 month study plan for the AUD section. I made it fit Monday through Friday, 6 hours a day. I plan to not study on Saturdays and Sunday, but will allow me the option of catch up time if I get behind, if I…
