debbie luu said… Hi Everyone,
I have the following questions:
1) I now have all 48 required semester units to sit for the CPA exam. Could anyone advice on whether or not I should take the following additional classes: an Auditing class, an Advanced Accounting, Cost Accounting, and Advanced tax accounting before I sit down with the CPA prep. books to study for the exam OR if it would be sufficient for me to study from the prep. books and sit for the exam?
2) Also, which prep. books (Becker, Kaplan, or CPAExcel) should I obtain the study books from? Should I enroll in a classroom/lecture setting as opposed to studying on my own using the books?
3)How long does it take on average to study for the 1st section of the exam?
4) Do you recommend studying for the 1st section 1st, then register to take the test ?
5) How long on average does it take to finish all 4 parts if one can dedicate 20 hours per week to study for the exam?
If anyone is available to chat by phone on their process for passing the CPA exam, please let me know.
Thank you!

Without a doubt, preparing for and taking the CPA Exam may prove to be one of the toughest challenges you will undertake in your life. Make the journey a little more doable and bearable by commiserating with fellow CPA exam candidates here at CPA Exam Club. CPAnet created CPA Exam Club a little over a year ago for all things CPA Exam and to put “a little social” into the process. You’ll find like-minded aspiring CPAs, links to the popular CPAnet Forum, groups by CPA exam section, videos, exam-related content, discounts on review materials, exam news, score release alerts/resources and more. You can also create: track and document your exam progress (and stick to it!) via the STUDY GOAL ROLL CALL group, start your own or join an online study group or take a moment to blog about your exam exploits. Looking for a way to update your Facebook/Twitter friends and family without the distraction of actually visiting Facebook/Twitter? Update them directly from CPA Exam Club & keep on studying. It’s true that sometimes friends and family may not “get” exactly what you are going through. However, you can rest assured members of CPA Exam Club do know, and they do care. So welcome to CPA Exam Club…be social and pass the CPA Exam! And speaking of social, you can find us on Facebook and Twitter too!
Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.
