Andrea Polo Lozano commented on CPAnet's group CPA Exam Bucket ListThere was many of time where I felt like I just wanted this testing to be over, actually most of the time. I almost gave up so many times, because the stress of not passing, that taste of failure, that hearing of your family shock and knowing you didn’t pass will drain your bank account down further and extend that time clock of when you can finally close your books and say you’re a CPA. Fail, Fail, Pass, Fail, Pass, Pass…and hopefully in May another Pass will be coming my way. Each fail I…

Well I knew walking out of the FAR exam I probably didn't do so well. It's not that I didn't want to do well or even thought I wasn't prepared, but when my test easily could be seen as Moderate - Difficult - Moderate was a key sign I didn't do good on that 2nd test, and then the SIMS all but about 2 of them I hoped were practice I knew was a bad sign. And I was right.
Getting my FAR score back at even a lower score than I thought pretty much made me question…

After a month and a half of studying, or 45 hours of Yeager videos and an additional 10 hours or more of reading plus problems – I was let go from my job. Well let go is a nice way of saying I was fired after 3 years of work. Now you’re probably thinking getting fired means I probably did something bad like steal from the company or I wasn’t very good at my job, or maybe I was studying during working hours. Well none of those applied to me. I was actually fired because I was miserable, I…

I'm more writing this for myself than anything, but here's my CPA game plan.
Starting July 1st for the FAR exam. Since FAR is the one I'm most worried about I've given myself 13 weeks to study.
Here's how I plan to break down studying:
Weeks 1-8
1. Study Yaeger videos and Wiley text
2. Do portion of the MCQ
Time will be spent Monday - 4 hours (5-7pm, 8-10pm), Wednesday (5-7pm, 9-10pm), Saturday (9am-12pm or something like that),…

Madhavilatha said… Thank you for your reply. But my problem is I did not study here. All my education is from India. So I am not familiar with the subject here. SO if I can information about the name and author of the book you guys use for Grad course for Cost/Managerial Accounting and Management Information systems, then I can use them as reference books. The only material I am purchasing for my study of BEC is Wiley Review Book and Wiley Test Bank CD. Can you please give me the information I have requested for ASAP
Madhavilatha said… thank you Andrea for your valuable advice. I am not working, but I have a 2yr old kid at home, not going to day care or anywhere. SO the time I get is 4 to 5 hrs in the night to study. Thats how I am studying for AUD now . For AUD I bought Wilye CPA review book and WIley test bank CD. As you said after doing the MCQs in CD I feel some what confident now. And thanks for your advice once again, I will surely implement the plan you mentioned.
Nank said… Thankyou Andrea, it was very helpful, I am trying to study both the tax portion and the Bus law portion together but the material is like never ending. Hopefully it will get better.
kenny said… Congrats!!
Would you recommend roger or yaeger for bec? Did you buy the cram for any sections?
Hey! Thanks for the birthday wishes, it was the 21st so not too late :) the scores are being released now so I'm going to hear any day, i'm getting nervous, I hope I passed. I take BEC for the 3rd time on the 25th and I'm stressing out.
It's hard to study today since the Giants are in the Superbowl. I live only 15 minutes from Giants Stadium (Met Life) so the area is slightly hyper.
I am halfway thru the 4th lecture in becker then I have 1 more. I am going to give myself 2 weeks for review hopefully that's enough
Congrats on passing REG!!!!
Francisco Garcia said… What material did you use to prepare for Reg ?
Francisco Garcia said… Good Luck, Am sure you will do well
CPAnet said… CONGRATULATIONS ON PASSING BEC!!! ;-)
kenny said… Thank you for your response. Do not give up. Good luck on your exam.
Wonny Oh said… Thanks so much for sharing your experience and info! Sounds like your study schedule was really tough!! About Wiley, did you also used the test bank CD? I know everyone has different study schedules and methods but I just wanted to make sure that I'm using something that has higher percentage rate of passing the exam.
Are you still studying for other parts? or are you finally done with this long exhausting journey?
Thanks again for the great info and i'll will drop by soon to ask more questions if that's ok with you :)
Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.
