Comment by Maria Slavey on April 9, 2012 at 9:53pm Hi everyone, I just purchased Yaeger for my FAR exam. I'm still browsing the online portal of myYaeger. I'm not sure what the "myCommunity" is for? Can somebody please explain it to me? Thanks.
Thanks, Sanjay. I'll lose a lot of time using the electronic calc during the exam :( I like the handheld one so much better! Even though I'll lose time practicing with it now, I want to make sure I'm accustomed to this feature during exam time.
Comment by Sanjay Gaur on March 14, 2012 at 7:01am They will not allow you to take even a pencil from outside. There is a electronic calculater in exam. You can use handheld calculater while practicing at home. Before exam, you can take some tests on AICPA website for FAR. It will have same electronic calculater as it is in exam. If you will start using it now, you will waste a lot of time unnecessary.
One more question...I've read everything under the sun regarding the exam (it feels like), and I'm still unsure about one thing...can we bring in a calculator to use, or is the electronic spreadsheet and/or calculator provided during the exam the only option? That would help while I'm prepping for the test. I use a handheld calculator while I study, but if we can only use the electronic calc during the exam, I better start practicing with it. Someone please confirm!
Thanks!
Comment by Craig Taylor on March 13, 2012 at 2:36pm I believe the SIMS in the Wiley book are more elaborate to better prepare you for the exam, as you could basically be asked anything. If you understand them, you should be okay. I also felt that the MCQ from the software test bank were more difficult than the actual exam.
Comment by Craig Taylor on March 13, 2012 at 2:21pm Thanks! If you are using Yaeger, then I'm sure you will do great. Results for FAR, AUD and REG came out last week. BEC takes about a week longer due to the written component.
Congrats Craig! I hope I have the same success. You received your exam results quick!
Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.
